Boro Hotel

The first design-centric boutique property in Long Island City, NY.

Boro Hotel

For the average tourist, Long Island City may not be the first thought when searching for places to stay in NYC, but as Manhattan and Brooklyn prices continue to rocket, travellers are taking a risk on previously ignored corners of the city.

Located in the Dutch Kills area, Boro Hotel (not an ode to Japanese textiles before you get excited) describes itself as “the first design-centric boutique property in this rapidly evolving neighborhood.” With 108 rooms designed by Grzywinski + Pons, the hotel carries shades of the wildly successful Williamsburg Wythe in both its floor-to-ceiling panoramic views and general decor.

The now familiar soft industrial look sees concrete, oak floors and painted pallet wood paneling meet leather, cork and sisal with lighting and furniture from Jasper Morrison for Vitra, Muuto and DD Interior dotted around the bedrooms and the communal spaces, restaurant, bar and coffee shop. With MoMA’s PS1 and The Noguchi Museum in the local area as well as plenty of transport links into the city, Boro Hotel looks to tempt tourists away from the usual spots with its discounted opening summer rates.
