Pirelli Calendar 2013
The 2013 Pirelli Calendar comes with one major surprise: the models are wearing clothes!
Photojournalist Steve McCurry shot this year's calendar in Rio de Janeiro and he said he wanted to "portray women who are sexy without being naked."
All of McCurry's subjects support charitable foundations, NGOs, and other humanitarian projects.
The calendar also includes photographs of regular Brazilian people and street art. "I tried to portray Brazil, its landscape, its economy and its culture, along with the human element," said McCurry, who's known for his memorable National Geographic photo of "the Afghan Girl." And although only some of the models are Brazilian, they all have one thing in common: all are involved in charitable or humanitarian work, something the calendar also hopes to highlight.
"The collection in this Calendar is my personal tribute to the people who live in one of the most exciting cities I have had the privilege to photograph" by Steve McCurry.
